Yoga Fitness

Most types of exercises require your body to tone through repeated actions.  These type of routines are based on the idea that working one area of your body repeatedly will result in a toning of that area.  However, over time many of these methods lead to muscle tension, damage and even fatigue.  Yoga on the other hand focuses on conserving energy and promoting stability.  Yoga uses a series of movements and poses to promote individuals on their quest for a healthy lifestyle by incorporating not only the physical body but ones senses and mind as well.  This overall cooperation of mind and body is commonly referred to as yoga fitness. 

Opposite of most common exercise techniques, yoga requires you to relax and normalize your heart and respiration rate.  This allows individuals to truly become attuned to their body movements and concentrate on uniformity.  Because this method of exercise is unique it is essential that individuals understand that the term yoga fitness does not refer to the popular understanding of fitness.  While yoga will in fact tone your body and help you gain muscle it is not designed to do so.  Often times it takes much dedication and practice for an individual to obtain any form of fitness through the use of yoga.  The most important factor of fitness in terms of yoga is you.  You must be dedicated and patient as well as in tune with your inner thoughts to achieve true personal fitness. 

If you are aiming to achieve personal  yoga fitness it is essential that you understand you are able to do so at your own pace.  It is common for people to jump right in to yoga trying to perform the most rigid and difficult poses possible.  This is not the point of personal fitness.  If you start with the simple and easy poses you will be able to better tune your body to your thoughts and feelings.  Personal fitness is unique to each person, so don’t be afraid to stick with the simple postures until you feel tuned enough to move forward.  You will find that as you move at your own pace the more difficult poses will come easier and your body will work easier as one to complete personal fitness.  With your mind on your side you can achieve practically anything imaginable.  However, our minds must become tuned to our bodies before that is truly achievable.
