Yoga Mat FAQs

What can I do if I am having difficulty performing difficult yoga poses and movements?

Some advanced yoga poses are extremely difficult.  With years of practice all poses can be mastered, but without years of experience they can be near impossible.  The best way to achieve these difficult poses is by using yoga props and equipment.  They allow you to perform even the most advanced poses by assisting you with support and balance.  They are also great in promoting safety and can help prevent damage you may cause to your body while doing the most extreme poses.

Can I do yoga at home?

There are many different types of yoga and all types can be done at home.  If you have been, or still are, attending classes then you can perform your poses and movements within your home or at class.  If you have no prior yoga knowledge then you can purchase a yoga DVD to help you with your practice.  It is best to practice yoga in a comfortable location of your home so that you are not distracted or injured while performing movements and poses.

What will help me gain more muscle as I practice yoga?

While yoga is more about training the mind to be healthy and your body to be flexible it is also a great work out!  Many long time yoga users have excellent muscle strength and perfect body toning.  If you are wishing to achieve this quicker then you can perform your movements and poses with weights.  Normal hand held weights can help you to gain muscle mass in your arms and even your legs however they are not easily placed on other parts of your body.  Sand bags can be held or placed anywhere during movements and poses to increase their difficulty and gain muscle.
